Prevention is better than cure
Since the time my father died of sickness, God enlightened me about the importance of taking care of our health. This includes preventive measures and taking on steps to do something for my health before it’s too late. So I decided to set my prevention-is-better-than-cure goals every year. Prevention means to stop problems from arising helping us to stay healthy for as long as possible.
My son had his first dental visit last Sunday. He doesn’t really have any problems with his teeth at the time but I had the urge to have him checked for the benefit of getting information and guidelines on how I can prevent future problems with his teeth. I know it’s very beneficial for a first-time mom like me.
I gained additional knowledge on how things work when we keep on giving food on our children several times a day. He said that it’s good that my son is breastfed (because formula has a lot of sugar!) but still I need to wipe his teeth with a cloth after feeding him at night since breast milk also contain sugar. I was also encouraged by the doctor to get rid of his old toothpaste and use one with fluoride. He taught me the right way to clean his mouth after every brushing since Josh’s still doesn’t know how to spit out the toothpaste. Drinking water after every feeding is very important especially when they eat crackers or sweets (my son likes to eat crackers a lot!).
It was a very good experience for us, well not really for my son. Hahaha.. He just had a check-up and cleaning. The procedure was smooth though my son was crying because it was a new experience for him.
I recommend JLT clinic and doctor Jaspher Tago. He is a pediatric dentist and his clinic is the nearest one in my place. It was our first time to meet him but he was so friendly and accommodating. He explained to us clearly the do’s and don’ts in taking care of my son’s teeth. His staff are friendly as well.
I thank God for the wisdom He continuously gives me to take steps and decisions towards our health that will benefit me and my family all for His glory. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
