Last week my husband and I bought a play tent and a set of table and chair for our son. We were so happy to see how excited he was to play and use them. We, as parents, desire to give good things to our children. We know what’s good for them. We won’t give them anything that would harm them right? In the same way, God as our father, and we as His children (for those who believed and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ ) have that same relationship.
In Matthew 7:11 it says,
You see, my son didn’t ask us to buy these things for him. Well he can’t even speak a few words yet but we did because we believe they’re good for him and we know they will make him happy. And surely, they did. If God can give us good gifts even before we ask Him, how much more if we do?
As I look back, I realize that there were a lot of good things God has given me even though I didn’t ask of Him. There were some that I didn’t like at first, but eventually I realized they’re exactly what I needed. I remember I asked God to give me that job and told Him that it was really a good company with good benefits (or so I thought). But then He didn’t let me pass the interview. I was so disappointed not knowing that He would give me a job in a company far way better than what I’ve asked Him.
There are some things in life that we want so badly. And we pray to God and tell Him that we desire it so much. But then we thought He doesn’t answer our prayers or maybe we kept on asking and it’s taking too long. God may have His own reasons for delaying or for not even giving us these things but let us always remember that He as our Father knows what’s best for us. And He desires to make us happy just like how we want our kids to be happy. It maybe a matter of His perfect timing and perfect will for us. Or it could be that we are asking with wrong motives ( When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. James 4:3)
It also makes us happy when our son enjoys these stuff while sharing it with his cousins. I know it brings smile to God whenever we share the blessings or the good things He has given us with others. After all, we are blessed to be a blessing for He is our good good Father.
