As a Christian, I believe that my priorities should be to put God first, second is my husband, then my child, my work, and lastly my ministry. But I also believe in the importance of having the time for myself. For me it’s not really being selfish. Because If I don’t take the time to care for myself, my needs, and some of my wants, eventually I might struggle in some aspects of my life that can hinder me from giving my best service to my family and most especially to God.

Proverbs 17:22 says that a joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Indeed God is the only source of true joy but he also uses other things to bring a smile on our faces.

Just this month, I was able to go out with some of my dear friends to celebrate their birthdays. I enjoyed again their company. We dine out,had a spa,  played a tower building game, laughed our heads off, and encouraged one another,. It was really refreshing because we don’t see each other that often. Then the next Saturday, I attended a workshop on blogging hosted by Mamacademy. It was titled “Inspired to blog, blog to inspire”. I learned a lot about blogging and was really motivated to strive on it by what the speaker had shared. It’s good to meet new moms who share the same passion as you do. It was again refreshing for me. I became more hopeful of what God wants me to do and how he wants me to glorify Him on the things I do for my “me-time”.

We all face struggles in our lives. Sometimes we become too tired and just want to get away for a while from all the stresses of life. With this it is important to run quickly to God because He is the source of our strength (Isaiah 40:29). With the help of God’s wisdom, He can teach us ways on how we can use our time and even our “me-time” effectively and efficiently for His glory. Our responsibilities and our service to others like to our family (especially for moms out there) can sometimes be overwhelming. But while we want to be faithful to do these things, we also need time to relax and refuel ourselves not just physically, but also emotionally, mentally, socially, and spiritually. There are many ways we can use this time of recreation to honor God. We can even use it to improve ourselves and develop skills that we can use in our ministry. It’s not bad if we want to treat ourselves with something good and relaxing. What important is we know our priorities in life and our purpose in this world.
